What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function through physical approaches when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle. At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.
The profession helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery.
How we Treat
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. Our aim is to restore proper functioning to the body or, in the case of permanent disease or injury, to reduce the impact of any dysfunction.
We offer a variety of treatments depending on your injury, pain or dysfunction.
- Joint Mobilisation or Manipulation Techniques
- Deep Tissue Massage
- Specialist Exercise Prescription
- Ergonomic advice
- Orthotics Guidance
- Kinesiology or Conventional Taping
- Referral to Orthopaedic Consultants via your GP if required

"Not only did physiotherapy help my recovery from a shoulder injury, but David worked with me to increase stability through relevant exercises to prevent it from happening again. Davids approach is professional yet friendly and thoroughly recommend."
"I saw David Essex as my shoulder has become painful and being a keen golfer I did not want it to get worse so that I would not be able to play. He made a swift diagnosis and after treatment showed me the exercises I should do. There has been a considerable improvement and I shall certainly see David again when another part of my body lets me down."
